Marie is originally from Perth, Western Australia, where she developed a passion for environmental management and conservation biology. She then moved to Brisbane to pursue a PhD at the University of Queensland, focusing on identifying effective approaches for managing multiple ecosystem services sustainably across landscapes. During the final stages of her PhD, Marie worked as a research assistant with Laura. In this role, Marie used spatial analysis to identify the impact that the mining of different minerals has on the biodiversity and protected areas, and how changing demand for minerals may affect biodiversity in future.
